Domoscore

What is a Domoscore?

The Domoscore evaluates the condition of a home. It looks at the condition and remaining life of multiple features within multiple areas of a home. It generates a single number and a detailed report of the condition of each feature in the home so you know how each item contributes to the overall score. Think of it as a credit score for your home that ranges between 0 and 10,000. In general, Domoscores above 8,000 indicate a property is in great condition. In contrast, properties with scores below 3,000 are often in significant need of repair.

How Does a Domoscore work?

There are three steps:

Step 1: Search for a property address. Once on the property’s page, tap the blue "Get Domoscore" button. Once logged in, you’ll begin the Domoscore Wizard in step 2.

Step 2: Answer 22 questions that cover each area of your home. It only takes about 10 minutes. This provides enough information to generate an overall score and reveal different areas of the home you should focus on to improve your score. At this point, there are a lot of details about your home, but not each feature is scored yet. Step 3 is when you rate each feature of your home if you’re the owner.

Step 3: If you’re the owner, each area can be scored in more detail. On the property page, under the summary charts, you can view details of each area. You can also select which additional features are in that area, give each feature a condition rating, and specify its age. You can score your whole house, or only the areas of interest to you. Scoring a whole house typically takes a couple hours.

How much does a Domoscore cost?

It’s free to create as many Domoscores as you want. The only cost is time, which is about 10 minutes to get a summary score and a couple hours to create a fully detailed report.

How do I improve my Domoscore?

The quick answer is care, attention and understanding. For most people, their home is their greatest investment. Whether you own real estate for your personal residence or as an investment – the relationship you have with your property, and the care and attention you give the property will directly affect its condition and ultimately the Domoscore.

Once you create a Domoscore for your property, you’ll have an analysis of your home and an ordered list of items to repair. The review is not a substitute for a professional inspection; both are important.

What if I don’t want my Domoscore details public?

We understand that not everybody wants all their home’s details available to the public. On your profile, you can control your privacy settings. For properties you own, you can choose if the details are public or private. For properties you don’t own, the Domoscore is always private.
